Mantuas mark a particular form of high-ranking court fashion, being part of most formal attire in northern countries of cultural Europe. The model our replica fallows, is a charismatic original, which shows a refined back cut and was made od finest materials partly imported from China.
We delightedly took up the challenge to reproduce this mantua, which - amongst others - was on public display at the Musée Galliera(Paris).

According to the wish of the customer we changed the colour from cream( like the original) into lilac shades.
The satin and the taffeta have been woven in England, exclusively for this order, wheras the single shades of grey in the flower pattern of the skirt have been cosen carefully.

A typical and essential part of the mantua would be the accentuation of the upper train part, which derives - like in our example - from the cut of the back bodice.
Particulary valuable elements are the hand-embroidered pieces decorating the stomacher, the cuffs, robings and the lower train, reflecting the embroidery pattern of the original dress.
