Habit à la francaise Gustaf III / 1777

Here we present a model of lighter male fashion for higher temperatures, the design of which was inspired by an attire worn by Gustaf III while staying in Gotland - the cut is that of a classical habit á la francaise.
The original (picture on the right), but the reproduction, too, exemplify impressively the exquisite and elect taste of the swedish king.
As the original dictates, we have used a blended fabric consisting of cotton and silk, and lined it with hemp.
All buttons are covered by hand, and the button holes have been hand-stitched.

To become aware of the sparkler highlighting the attire, the waistcoat needs to be focused in particular. Its top acuteness discloses not before the second glance - the art lies therein that it appears modest at first sight, but is far from actually having been manufactured modestly...

With reference to the original we decided for a heavy silk ottoman, which is covered by a embroidered net, the reticulation of which is broken by adjourned blossoms and leaf tendrils. It is a masterpiece of 18th century skill and - thanks to our embroiderer - of contemporary craftmanship, too.
