Grand Habit (III) 4th Quarter
An original piece, a waistcoat which is part of our private collection, served as model for this magnificient suit.
We used the design for the reproduction of the waistcoat and transferred it to the habit as well. For this, coloured sequins were used, which were very popular in the 18th century, not merely gold and silver ones. Sometimes there were even applied with dyed thread, a method which supported their brightness and generated a colourful general appearance.

During our longstanding experience with practical costume making, sustained by intensive research we have made very good experience with a strong and heavy silk called zibeline. In our opinion it is the ideal fabric, distinguished by supportive stiffness and shiny glance.
Yet it has not been too well-known on the market, and used to be available on white an natural colours only. However, our English silk purveyor offered it in this elegant glacier blue.
