German Suit dated around 1730

following the painting "La déclaration d´amour" by de Troy, 1730.

The suit is given its shape by the rich pleating. With this shape the men sought the similarity to female fashion.
It is hand-embroidered and decorated with pearl tassels.

Grey-green woolen cloth and ivory silk damask has been used as material.
The pattern of the embroidery, which is applied to the front, the back, the cuffs, the waistcoat, the pockets and the breeches, similises the original in detail. It was common to keep the sleeves rather short to make the lace of the shirt seem more eyecatching.
