Preparatory Works
The beginning of every project is marked by a consultation and a subsequent order. But the intention behind contains much more than the mere purpose to have a simple gown tailored. It is the individual taste of our customers, which forms the basis for the creation of exceptional clothing, along with their confidence in us and their courage to trespass beyond limits. In the course of the first consultation ideas and wishes tend to rise to a high level, but it is a pleasure to take even the most luxurious and lavish expectations as personal challenge.
The way a complete attire developes in our workshop will be explained using the example of the
Wedding Suit of King Christian VII of Denmark
in words and pictures.
Indispensable: profound research...

During the last years we have collected an extensive multi-lingual library from museums and antiquarian book-shops all over the world. Mostly, the research for originals, patterns, authentic materials and construction starts here.
Research in museums
In many cases - as with the Wedding Suit- the contemporary sources do not suffice to guarantee the historical look. In these situations we continue the inquiry directly on the object itself (as far as possible). Thus, we searched the "Musée des Tissus et des Arts Décoratifs" in Lyon for information on the correct material.
The next step led us to Copenhagen, to the collection of Rosenborg Castle, where the original piece is kept. Still today it is in possession of the royal Danish family. With a special permission, which is rarely granted and only very selectively, we were allowed to study the nature of the fabric, the structure of the pattern, die embroidery and other characteristic features (lining, pleats etc.)

Due to our excellent reputation and acceptance, we are able to contact curators of the leading museums worldwide, asking for cooperation and gaining specific information.
Own Collection.........
Our own collection of antique textiles is a highly valuable instrument for our studies. It comprises exhibits deriving from between 1680 and 1920, with major focus on the 18th century. Besides various accessories the range contains costume items like corsets, but also even complete suits and attires.
They enable to study patterns and methods of manufacturing. Being contemporary witnesses they are useful guidelines.
But it is also a fine prospect for our customers to be offered the possibility of seeing an interesting textile collection outside museum halls.
